It allows :

• to model various divided material and structures: granular material, concrete, living material, masonry, etc,

• to model bulk components as rigid or deformable with complex behavior, and to mix the models,

• to introduce various interaction laws: contact, friction, cohesion, fracture, wear, etc,

• to introduce multi-physics couplings: thermal, fluid, etc,

• to use various numerical strategies: MD, NSCD, etc,

• to add your own models and strategies.

It was originally developed by Frédéric Dubois and Michel Jean .
